Carara National Park

Costa RicaCarara National Park

The park enjoys a unique location between the Amazon and the habitat of Mesoamerica in a transition zone of Costa Rica to host the flora and fauna of each respective habitat. This is really a very special place in Costa Rica, which can be seen on a tour of our hotel in Jaco. The name of the park, where the native Huetar means crocodile

. Everyone will understand the meaning of this name as the Tarcoles River (Rio Tarcoles), which forms the northern boundary of the park is inhabited by crocodiles round. On this trip all year round you can see wildlife, including white -faced capuchin and red macaws and displacement in the dense mangrove canopy Jaco, near the mouth of the beach, near Jaco Tarcoles where they usually sit. If the stripes of colors in the sky left by macaws are not attractive enough, birders can enjoy toucans, parrots, aracaris, kingfishers, herons, which bloom in coastal mangroves. Other animals in the park are peccaries, anteaters and poison arrow frogs up temporarily in the jungle floor.

Carara National Park is just 9.3 miles (15 km) north of the hotel in Jacó. Several miles of trails are open to visitors. Early morning is the best time to see the many birds that inhabit the park, scarlet macaws, in particular.
There are two trails in Carara National Park and tour. The Natural Way 2.7 miles Araceas the gatehouse in parallel with the Rio Grande de Tarcoles short and has branches in the lagoon meanders and wetlands. There is also a shorter route.
